Leanne Marshall – Project Runway Season 5 Winner

Wednesday night was the season finale of Project Runway and the winner was Leanne Marshal. As Heidi Klum uttered those famous words Congratulations, Leanne you are the winner. We all knew that season five had come to an end.

I would like to mention a few impressive things that I witnessed last night. Korto made two new looks at the last minute just to make certain that she would wow the judges. And that is probably why she won Project Runway fan favorite and a check for $10,000 dollars. Way to go Korto!

In brief the judges were very proud of the final designers. They felt Kenly’s line was full of spirit and that Leanne’s line was innovative. They felt Korto’s line was effortlessly cohesive and she managed to bring in her culture without overdoing it.

Now I would like to give you my takes on Project Runway’s Season finale.

Kenly’s line had some nice pieces in it. I thought the green dress was hideous, but I liked the black dress all the way until I seen that stupid rope at the bottom. The dress that Tim Gunn had pointed out to her with the boating rope intertwining two different fabrics was a miss. As we have all seen on Project Runway, Kenly does have a knack for making some nice dresses and we were able to see that also. I hope that Kenly takes the judges advice and does some fashion research.

Leanne’s line was beautiful. She showed an array of different pieces. The colors she chose were beautiful, but I was bored with the lack of variety in colors. Her entire line was two basic colors. I wanted to see more. I agreed with the judges that her petals were innovative. Leanne is the Season 5 winner we will see lots more of her.

And last but not least Korto. She was my Project Runway Season 5 winner. I loved her line. I was scared when Tim Gunn made his visit that she was going to add too much of her culture into her pieces. But she managed to come out with a great balance which any woman of any ethnicity could wear. I immediately related to Korto’s line. It was fresh, elegant and beautifully done. I felt that Korto would make designs that would fit the average woman’s body and I loved that. I implore all those top African-American celebrities to support Korto at your next red carpet event. She will do you proud.

Auf wiedersehen to you all!

Project Runway Season 5 Final Three Chosen Tonight

There were four designers left on Project Runway and we finally found out who the final three are. The Judges chose, Leanne, Kenly and Korto for the Project Runway season finale. Let’s find out how the Project Runway judges came to this decision.

Now, last week the judges couldn’t narrow it down to just three. So the remaining designers were given the opportunity to go home and create a collection with 10 looks.

On tonight’s Project Runway pre-finale the designers received one more challenge. The challenge was to create a wedding dress inspired by their collections and that reflects them as designers.

After the designers are home for at least a month or more Tim Gunn makes his first visit to Korto in Little Rock, Arkansas in which she plays the drums for him.

Tim visits Leanne in Portland, Oregon where the highlight of their visit was a bike ride. Out in Los Angeles Tim takes a look at Jerell’s collection and has many thoughts about it. Finally, he visits Kenly in Brooklyn, NY.

The designers return to New York for their last Project Runway catwalk. But there is one last twist in this Project Runway challenge. The designers must now design a bridesmaid dress to accompany their wedding dress. After that is completed they will present their wedding dress and bridesmaid dress to the Project Runway judges.

Here are some snippets of this week’s Project Runway judge’s comments. They felt Leanne’s dress was so sheik and beautifully crafted. It was modern, dreamy and romantic. Fantastic job.

Jerell’s design was garish and overwrought times 20,000. Nina felt the choice of the grey fabric for the bridesmaids dress looked dirty. Michael felt like the bride had a flower pot growing out of her head. The Project Runway judges agreed that Jerell went hog wild with the wedding dress and that he didn’t put any thought into bridesmaids dress.

Kenly’s wedding dress was very similar to Alexander McQueen’s dress. But it was done beautifully. Michael Kors said that her bridesmaids dress was the cutest damn bridesmaid dress he ever seen. Heidi said it was crazy-good.

Korto’s wedding dress was overworked whereas her bridesmaids dress was underworked. The Project Runway judges felt that it didn’t even look like it was a match for the wedding dress. To top it off Heidi said that if she were a bride she wouldn’t want to wear the dress.

Tonight’s text vote question was who shouldn’t go to Bryant Park. And Kenly was the winner by at least 50%. I thought that was ridiculous. Yes Kenly’s attitude needs work, but her designs this week definitely earned her a spot in the Project Runway final three.

In tonight’s Project Runway episode there wasn’t a clear cut winner just those who were moving on to Bryant Park. However, we had to say good bye to Jerell. And I wish him the best of luck.
